Col. Mamady Doumbouya has become the latest high profile to receive the Humanity Award for thwarting dictatorship and bringing hope to the good people of Guinea.
Col. Mamady action for setting the standard, and crucially sending the message against third termism In Africa, by necessary and morally ousting President Alpha Condé to avert rampant corruption, disregard for human rights and economic mismanagement under the ousted president Conde is being celebrated, as an inspiration of hope for Africa’s democracy .
The former Guinean President Alpha Conde, who is currently served his second five-year term,was supposed to leave office in 2020 under the rules of the 2010 Constitution. However, the 81-year-old subverted and manipulated the constitution to extend his grip on power for a third and even a fourth time till col. Mamady displayed a spirit of humanity by ousting Conde to return freedom and hope to Guineans.
The CEO of Humanity Magazine International, Mr. Yahaya Alhassan, considers Guinea to be Ghana’s friend and neighbor, and action of the current leader Col. Mamady Doumbouya on 5th September 2021 deserves commendation for ending the cancer of third termism which is eating into the democratic dispensation of the continent thereby shaping Africa’s stability.
Guinea is not the only country in Africa that was grappling with the problem, dubbed “third-termism”, where incumbents either eliminate or modify presidential term limits to cling on to power. The AU, ECOWAS have shamefully and controversially avoided engaging the third-term phenomenon in the past, drawing criticism that the organisation is a mere “Big Boys’ Club” serving the interests of incumbents.
The Humanity Magazine International campaigns for humanitarian endeavors, international relations, security and business development among African countries to create employment opportunities for the youth.
The Magazine also aims at promoting quality leadership by recognizing the achievements of managers of public and private institutions, to serve as shining examples for other managers to emulate.
A citation accompanying the award reads “In respect for your exemplary action of bringing freedom and hope to the people as seen on the street in Guinea”.
It further reads “ . Without doubt, the 5th September mission has set the standard against third termism in Africa. May Allah bless you for saving Africa, Amen ’’.
